My final nursing clinical block placement started on October 7th and finished on November 28th in a GP Super Clinic. This final clinical placement provided me the chance to practice a number of clinical skills and receive constructive feedback which was good for me.
Some of the clinical skills were giving injections, removing sutures, attending to wound dressings, doing ECGs, spirometry testing, hearing tests, ear syringing, setting up for minor operations, sterilizing clinical instruments, maintaining infection control standards, were some of the clinical areas I have been practiced over the last 2 months.
As a result I feel more confident in myself compared to how I felt prior to commencing my clinical placement. I have much more to learn as nursing is an ongoing process of learning for nurses who want to retain their registration to practice.
Having said that it’s a great feeling to know the Bachelor of Nursing has eventuated at long last.
Pete.
